My host from the beginning of this week, Arris, was kind enough to invite me to a little get together in the cheesy city of Gouda. Apparently, what we know as Gouda cheese has little semblance to the cheese they actually sell in the city. But the company was nice, and the city is really cute. It has all the charm I would expect from Amsterdam (where I haven’t actually been) but without the craziness. I once commented that Estonia struck me as a comfortable place where I could end up settling down for a bit. The Netherlands has a similar quality. The people are friendly but honest, the cities are easy to get around, and the climate has been rather agreeable thus far. I’m set to leave in Monday afternoon, but I’ll see what else I can get up to tomorrow.
